I Made an App: Track a Train

Phone displaying notifiaction from track a train

personal departure boards in your notifications

Making catching the train in the UK much nicer by giving you up to date information in a place you can always reach with 1 swipe.

For commuters you can set these notifications to repeat on specific days, so you’ll never even need to open my app after setting your outbound and return journey.

Clearly see when there is a bus replacement service

I have loads to work on, so it’s still sort of in beta and eventually want to make the source open.

But for now here it is :)

Improvement ideas in the mix, in no particular order:

  • improve UI; make it much more obvious what your doing!

  • Track individual train journey; allowing multiple day notice on changes, loud notifications when delayed, share arrival time with friends/family.

  • Display if train is on or off peak!

  • Filter trains by operator (for those pesky restrictive tickets).

  • Display arrival/journey time.

  • No notification mode, display the times just in the app.

  • Widgets!!! Put the same information in a widget!

  • Advanced journey planner; great for multi-leg commutes and complicated journey planning.
